The Challenge
CESB was looking for a single proven, secure, auditable, Oracle-based solution to manage its power plant market activities for the new plant in a cost-effective way.

The Solution
Market Operations for Ireland will help CESB operators make informed decisions on how much gas to buy taking into account sales forecasts, plant efficiency, gas supply and transportation contract constraints, SONI dispatch instructions, and top-up/spill. The system will also perform incremental cost calculations.
Market Operations for Ireland automates market operations to improve efficiency, reduce cost, and maximize margins for your energy business. It is a complete scheduling and settlement tool for multiple energy markets. Market Operations for Ireland is customizable and designed to work in conjunction with existing energy trading, scheduling, and accounting systems.

The Result
The Market Operations for Ireland solution will help CESB manage both the volume and purchasing of gas, ensuring that CESB buys the right amount of gas and nominates to match their offtake requirements and their generator capability—too little or too much, and the company's position is suboptimal.
Project implementation is still in progress at press time. CESB Commercial Manager John Fitzgerald reports, "When we needed Ventyx to be here for us at a critical point in the project, they were there for us. They took care of our needs, and are still here for us today. We are confident that this project will be successfully completed."
